Key Takeaways
  • In twenty years of treating cancer patients in Hyderabad, fear of food does as much harm as eating the wrong thing. Patients stop eating protein. They replace meals with juice. They follow advice meant for someone else, in a different country.
  • This page addresses the most common questions heard in clinic every week — and what the evidence actually says.
✅ The 5 Things to Stop Worrying About
  • Sugar doesn't feed your cancer — cutting it out starves you, not the tumour
  • Non-veg food didn't cause your cancer and won't make it worse
  • "Natural" doesn't mean risk-free — just tell your oncologist about every herb and supplement
  • No diet, juice, or detox cures cancer — only delays real treatment if it replaces it
  • The real goal is to keep eating — restriction causes more harm than almost any single "wrong" food

These questions come from WhatsApp forwards, viral social media posts, well-meaning relatives, Ayurvedic websites, and viral videos. Some are half-truths. Some are entirely wrong. All of them cause harm when followed without medical guidance.

💬 A note from Dr. Sinha — the most dangerous myth is the one that stops you from eating

Fear of food during cancer treatment is common and understandable. But in twenty years of practice, I have seen far more harm from patients eating too little than from patients eating the wrong thing. If you are uncertain about anything — a food, a supplement, advice from a relative, a WhatsApp forward — bring it to your appointment. It's always better to ask than to stop eating foods your body needs to stay strong during treatment.
